Questions & Answers
What is concierge medicine?
Concierge medicine is a personalized healthcare model where patients pay a membership fee for enhanced services such as longer appointment times, direct access to the physician, and more comprehensive care. It differs from traditional healthcare by allowing a closer doctor-patient relationship and a broader, unrestrictive focus on preventative care.
What does 'direct access' mean?
Direct access means you can reach your physician often without going through a receptionist or nurse. You can schedule appointments, ask questions, or discuss health concerns directly with Dr. Miller, with same or next-day appointments during office hours and limited wait times.
Is the membership fee FSA/HSA eligible?
Yes. Apex Concierge Health’s fees are eligible for coverage by most Medical Savings Plans. By using pre-tax dollars designated for medical expenses, out-of-pocket costs may be reduced by as much as 30–40%. Check with your plan administrator.
Can I use Medicare at Apex?
Yes, however Medicare will not cover services provided by Apex. Dr. Miller will not submit any claims to Medicare, and you may not submit any services provided by Apex for Medicare reimbursement. Your Medicare coverage will continue to cover costs incurred by all other physicians, hospitals, labs, etc. If you have Medicare, you will be asked to sign a waiver acknowledging a private relationship with Dr. Miller.
Do I still need health insurance?
While concierge medicine typically does not involve insurance billing for the membership fee, we encourage patients to retain insurance for specialist visits, hospitalizations, emergency care, and other healthcare needs outside the concierge practice.
What are the benefits of joining?
Benefits include personalized and unhurried care, enhanced access to your physician, proactive preventative care, same-day or next-day appointments, 24/7 direct access via phone, text, video chat or email, and an Executive Annual Physical included in your membership.
What happens in an emergency?
Dr. Miller provides 24/7 access for urgent matters and can advise on appropriate emergency care. For life-threatening emergencies, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Dr. Miller can coordinate follow-up care after any emergency visit.
